Fasten your seatbelts, because the end of the road is near.
Universal Pictures has set yet another release date for the 10th Fast & Furious Saga, two months after the long-delayed release of F9. The vehicle, directed by Justin Lin, will be released on April 7, 2023.
Vin Diesel recently stated to EW that filming would begin in January 2022, with Fast 10 and 11 possibly being shot back-to-back to complete the billion-dollar franchise.
On EW’s BINGE: The Fast Saga, Diesel teased, “Just wait for 10.” “Let’s just say that knowing the studio is saying we can’t cover all of this ground in a single film, you can only imagine what’s to come.”
The usual suspects, such as Diesel, Gibson, Rodriguez, Brewster, Bridges, and Kang, are anticipated to return, but two of Fast’s biggest performers have been either noncommittal or committed to being done. Newcomer John Cena told EW ahead of F9 that he wasn’t thinking about the future of his character, Jakob Toretto, while Fast fave Dwayne Johnson is out due to his feud with Diesel. “I wish them the best of luck on F10 and F11 and the remainder of the Fast & Furious movies they do without me,” Johnson recently stated.
Johnson’s Hobbs & Shaw co-star Jason Statham, on the other hand, has already featured in the F9 mid-credits scene, setting up a clash between his Deckard Shaw and Kang’s Han. When asked what spectators should take from that stinger on BINGE’s F9 spoiler bonanza, Kang had a simple yet fascinating tease: “I think there’s only one word — Gisele,” referring to Gal Gadot’s reportedly deceased character. “Every path leads to Gisele.”
“It seems to be making a tremendous promise,” Lin remarked. “It’s really strange because I’d contacted [Statham] and he came and did the tag for 6, and we’d talked about everything.” Then one day I contacted him and said, ‘Hey Jason, I’m not going to do 7.’ ‘What?!’ he exclaims. So I contacted him and told him, ‘Hey Jason, I’m going to have you do the tag for 9.’ “But after this, we get to work together!” he exclaims.
