The DCEU is a ship that keeps thinking while refusing to go underwater completely. The ship is still waiting for the rescue crew that will arrive, fix the ship, and show it a new way to the glory. The Warner Bros. studio is trying everything in their power to bring in new talent and make movies that would make DCEU at least somewhat competitive with the Disney’s MCU. Hiring great and somewhat controversial actors is a great way to ensure that movies at least gather some hype.
We Got This Covered recently started another rumor saying that Johnny Depp is about to join the DCEU as a character/cameo in the next Batman movie directed by Matt Reeves. Interestingly, these rumors might just be true since Warner Bros. is definitely looking forward to creating another string of movies featuring the caped crusader of the Gotham city. If Battison makes a good impression and will be introduced to the extended universe, sequels must have compelling villains and side characters.
Johnny Depp is a perfect choice for a Batman villain. With his weird acting style and unique appearance, he definitely can become a memorable and charismatic villain.
Is there anything solid under these rumors? Sadly, no. It is highly unlikely that a studio would start talking with someone before the sequel is even green-lit. Sure, Warner Bros. may be certain that Matt Reeves is cooking a box office hit that will blow our collective minds away. However, it does not mean that they are ready to start signing contracts left and right before they see actual numbers.
