Fantasy Island is a weird movie that did not care to promote the presence of a prominent movie star on the set. Perhaps, people behind the movie wanted it to be a surprise? Regardless of reasons, Michael Rooker is on the set of the movie and he is doing a good job. Fantasy Island is performing okay in the box office department. However, there was something “worst” in this film and Michael Rooker received it fully.
When asked what was the worst thing about working on the movie, he said that the wardrobe was terrible. He said that it looked outstandingly ugly yet he loved even more for this exact reason. It is weird to hear that this is the worst looking wardrobe of his career, considering that he starred in The Walking Dead and wore some really gross stuff.
What is really interesting is that the marketing efforts for Fantasy Island were all focused on promoting horribly miscast Michael Pena and other actors who play prominent roles in the film.
The movie is based on a concept explored by a popular 70s show where a group of people arrived at a mysterious island where their deepest and most desired dreams become a reality usually at a high and unexpected cost. Many critics could use a “meh” emoji to summarize their feelings about the movie. It was a painfully average picture that had absolutely nothing going for it. However, it was not a horrible trainwreck. Some people liked it a lot although a C- on CinemaScore is not something to be proud of.
Overall, the movie is just a forgettable mess with out-of-place performances. However, it is still an entertaining horror movie that has something to offer to those who love to sit at home and chill while watching a scary film.
While everything was far from memorable, Michael Rooker will surely remember the times when he wore the worst wardrobe of his career!
